Data Ventures works with the major telecommunication companies in New Zealand to access the anonymised sum total of mobile devices down to suburb in New Zealand, across different time periods. From there, they use Statistics NZ expertise to develop population estimates that represent all of New Zealand's population - including visiting, residing, and population who don't own a mobile phone. This allows a frequent, up to date breakdown of population to be used in decisions around demand and utilisation. This helps with emergency planning, tourism, transport, biosecurity, accommodation, construction, energy, education and retail industries.
